New patient experience

What to Expect

A practical overview of the steps before, during, and after an initial appointment.

The process

Know what happens before care begins.

01

Request

Use the administrative request page, or call or text the office with basic scheduling information.

02

Review

The office considers service needs, fit, availability, and the appropriate next step.

03

Prepare

Review the fee and policies, then complete the paperwork provided by the office.

04

Evaluate

Meet with the provider for an individualized evaluation and discussion of appropriate recommendations.

The first appointment

A focused clinical conversation.

The first visit is designed to understand the reason for care in context. Depending on the provider and service, the discussion may include relevant medical or psychiatric history, current concerns, daily functioning, prior treatment, medications, safety, records, and goals.

The provider may recommend additional records, laboratory work, screening tools, consultation, or another level of care before making or finalizing a plan.

After the visit

Recommendations continue with clear next steps.

01

Understand the plan

Ask questions about recommendations, alternatives, monitoring, and what to do before follow-up.

02

Contact the office

Call or text the office for instructions about paperwork, refills, records, laboratory work, and non-urgent communication.

03

Return as recommended

Visit frequency and format are individualized according to clinical needs, safety, regulations, and provider judgment.
